Cage size for your Parrotlet
Parrotlets are small birds which is why they don´t need much space. A cage with 60 x 60 x 30 cm is enough for them to rest. see other perfered sizes below at the end of this artical. However, you should let your bird out of the cage as many times as possible. several times a day if you are at Home ,they love their Owners and want to be with them.
Don´t put the cage near open windows because of drafts can be harmful. Avoid putting them under direct sunshine as well. A good space is: an illuminated place with indirect natural light, preferably the most frequented by the Family. Room Living Room ,Office etc
These little parrots need lots of toys to keep them distracted: invest in swings and fresh branches that they can chew up, they love to Climb and you know what else they love is Tollet Paper rolls make sure the tollet paper has no paper left on it Beware of poisonous trees. Parrotlets love Slinky's a great toy for them. Foot Toys .
Parrotlets must be housed in separate cages if you have 2 males and if you are thinking of putting them togeather as they reach the adult stage they make fight with each other ,unless they are Hen ( Female) and Cock ( Male )since they are very territorial and quite aggressive to other birds. so if you decide to get 2 parrotlets like 2 males then keep them side by side in seperate cages were they can see each other but are not able to reach at each other
They will chatter to each other all day long .Keep each other company
Provide your parrotlet with a minimum 18” wide x 18”deep x 24” high cage. or Larger or 24 wide " x 24" Long 18 " high Make sure bar spacing is no more than 1/2” or 5/8" wide to ensure their head will not be caught in the bars. The larger the cage the better and the happier your Parrotlet will be. There should be plenty room for your bird to stretch his wings and run around and fly. Provide plenty of perches, including some natural wood perches, java wood is the best for comfort for their Feet of varying size(s).and parrotlets love different Toys to keep them happy and busy. they need lots of toys for playtime,,some of the Huts you see on E-bay or in stores are great for your parrotlet to sleep in at night, one other thing to keep your parrotlet safe at night have a small night light to plug into the wall ,so your parrotlet does not have a accident at night .like eg: flying into the cage bars or hurting itself.keeps your parrotlet safe.because they can get startled or scard .
If you really want a loving ,loyal social Parrotlet it is advised to keep only one as a Pet .They love their Owners and you will love them too .
